Alleged drunken driver jailed in TC

TRAVERSE CITY -- Police arrested a woman who allegedly tried to evade police while driving drunk and arrested another woman who allegedly tried to grab a police officer.

A Traverse City Police officer saw a Chevrolet Trailblazer driving the wrong way down the 200 block of East Front Street, which is one-way, Sunday night. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it backed up to Cass Street and drove to Grandview Parkway.

The officer pursued the vehicle east on Grandview Parkway to Front Street, then south on Hope Street, where the vehicle stopped in an alley.

A police release states the driver, a Mount Pleasant woman, 23, allegedly was "highly intoxicated" and driving with a suspended license. She was jailed for fleeing and eluding police, drunken driving and driving with a suspended license.

A passenger in the vehicle, a Grand Rapids woman, 25, allegedly attempted to grab a police officer. She was jailed for attempted resisting and obstructing police and possession of open intoxicants in a vehicle.
