Nurse gets jail time for stealing medication

TRAVERSE CITY — A home care nurse was sentenced to five months in jail for diluting and stealing medication from three children for whom she cared in Kalkaska County.

Christina Neeley, 35, of Grayling, also will spend 18 months on probation. She pleaded guilty to obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Other charges of larceny in a building and fourth-degree child abuse were dismissed.

Munson Medical Center staff in March informed the children's guardians their medication was being diluted, according to Kalkaska County Sheriff's Department reports.

Neeley admitted to investigators that for two weeks she diluted the prescriptions with water.

She worked in a Clearwater Township home for more than a year with Caring Touch Nursing Inc., a police report states.
