Rico’s honors vets

GRAWN — Veterans and active-duty military personnel are invited to complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets on Veteran’s Day, Monday, Nov. 11, at Rico’s Cafe, 5790 U.S. 31 South. Boys’ book club

TRAVERSE CITY — The Novel Knights book group, formerly Guys Read Too, will meet on Monday, Nov. 11, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road.

The group is for boys in grades three through five. It will meet from 4:15-5:30 p.m. to discuss “Al Capone Does My Shirts” by Gennifer Choldenko. There also will be a related craft and snacks. Books are available on a first come, first served basis at the library. For details, call 223-7700.

Alden book club

ALDEN — The Books and Brie Book Club will watch the movie “Man on a Wire” at its 3:30 p.m. meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The film follows Frenchman Philippe Petit who attempted to walk on a wire illegally rigged between the World Trade Center’s Twin Tower in 1974. The movie is related to the club’s October selection “Let the Great World Spin” by Colum McCann. The public is invited. For details, call the Alden District Library, 331-4318.

Tour NMC

TRAVERSE CITY — The community is invited to tour Northwestern Michigan College facilities at its three campuses and talk with people in charge of NMC’s most innovative programs.

The behind-the-scenes look at NMC will be offered from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. The motor coach tour starts and ends at the Great Lakes Campus, 715 E. Front St., with stops on the Aero Park Campus and main campus. The cost is $5. Space is limited and registration is required. For details or to register, call 995-1700 or visit www.nmc.edu/ees.
