Prep Sports Roundup: Traverse City St. Francis wins

ELK RAPIDS — St. Francis came alive in the second half Wednesday for a 73-48 Lake Michigan Conference win over host Elk Rapids.

The Gladiators (12-0, 7-0 LMC) led 21-14 at the half and made it 40-24 after three quarters.

Kody Kleinrichert had 20 points for St. Francis while Connor Archer had 18 points. Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi had 13 points, nine steals and six assists and Ian Spencer had five assists.

Elk Rapids (7-5, 4-3 LMC) had 13 points and seven rebounds from Cole Walker while Austin McMullen had 12 points.

St. Francis is at Kalkaska on Friday while the Elks host East Jordan.

In the JV game, the Gladiators won 63-39 behind 20 points from Michael Olm.

Manistee Catholic      61 Mason Co. Eastern      56

Manistee Catholic Central shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in a 61-56 win over Mason Co. Eastern.

The Sabers (9-3, 8-1 WMDL) were 27-for-46 from the floor.

Zack Bialik had 24 points, Ben Feliczak had 10 points and six rebounds, Alex Bialik had nine points, seven rebounds, eight steals and three assists, Jesse Miller had eight points and Andrew Perry had eight points and eight rebounds.

Mason Co. Eastern was led by 17 points from Zach Erickson.

GIRLS HOOPS

LL St. Mary's      61 Northport      19

Lake Leelanau St. Mary's stayed unbeaten in the Cherryland Conference with a 61-19 win over Northport.

Rachael Thon had a big night for the Eagles (4-10, 2-0 CC) with 29 points, 15 steals and 10 rebounds. Lindsey Boone added 10 points while Rachael Schaub and Nicole Falkiewicz each had six rebounds.

Northport had 11 points from Autumn Huck.

HOCKEY

TC Central      7 Cadillac      2

TC Central rolled to a 7-2 Big North Conference win over Cadillac behind some big performances.

Cam Givens had a hat trick for the Trojans (17-2, 9-0 BNC) while Cooper Macdonell had a goal and four assists.

In the last two Big North Conference games, Macdonell has tallied 11 points.

Jon Russel had two goals for TC Central while Cooper Marshall also scored. Nico Saco had three assists, Derek Schrank had two while Alex Oliver, Brady Brantley and Kyle Ludwig each had one.

Mike Wittersheim made 16 saves for the Trojans, who next play at Alpena on Monday.
