TRAVERSE CITY — Grayling's Zach Cheney won his 100th career match Wednesday in a quad at Traverse City Central.
Traverse City West's Jonah Jasman and James Peck are aiming to accomplish the same feat in the next week or so.
Peck was 2-0 as the Titans notched an identical record in the quad, winning 53-26 over Traverse City Central and 54-21 against Traverse City St. Francis.
Grayling narrowly won 39-36 over St. Francis and topped Central 52-30.
"We beat both Traverse City schools, so that's always good," first-year West head coach Nash Myers said. "We got kids who can do a lot of good things and they continue to progress every time out."
Peck is nine wins shy of 100 and Jasman needs 10 more to reach the century mark.
"He continues to stand out," Myers said of Peck. "He's definitely en route to make a push for states.
"And Vince (Priante), he's a very methodical wrestler out there, which I really like."
Jasman was 1-1 on the day, dropping a 9-3 decision to St. Francis standout Zach Schaub.
Priante — who is 29-4 this season at 112 pounds — was also 2-0 on the day, as was Gabe Jasman (160), Zac Provost (171), Tanner Yanski (189) and Korey Johannsen (103). Peck is 20-7 this year while Jonah Jasman has a 22-9 mark.
The Titans are 1-2 in Big North Conference action, and host league foes Alpena and Petoskey on Wednesday after participating in Saturday's 16-team Sparta Invitational.
Cheney's 100th victory came as a junior. He's now 27-3 this season at 130 pounds.
"I was pretty pleased," Vikings coach Andy Moore said. "Our first match was in the league and we won that. I was really happy with our energy against TC Central."
The defending Lake Michigan Conference champions moved their league mark to 4-0 with the victory. Grayling is 19-9 in duals overall.
Joining Cheney as double winners for Grayling were Ghayge Toomey (140), Fred Fisher (145), Michael Phipps (160), Nick Petrie (171), Jeff Myers (189) and Koedy Dole (130).
Jake Khoury (285) and Schaub were 2-0 for the Gladiators. Other winners for the Glads included Megyn Ostrom, Victor Casler, Matt Mawby, Eric Coggon, Sam Surgalski and Beily Ostrom.
Hunter Luhrs was the only Trojan to post a 2-0 mark. Central led 20-0 against West with consecutive wins from 125-140 coming from Luhrs, French froeign-exchange student Evan Mesquen, Drake Wables and Justus Korson.
Julie Orris won against Grayling and James Westenbarger had a win against the Vikings' Rafael Quiroz.
"That kid had him down and he worked his way out and into a pinning combination," Central coach Dave Haughn said of Westenbarger. "He never stops wrestling."
