Prep Sports Roundup: Trojans post key road win

CADILLAC – Traverse City Central put itself right back into the thick of the Big North Conference hockey race with a 4-2 road win over Cadillac on Wednesday.

The two teams tied 6-6 earlier this season.

"Key game," Central coach Chris Givens said. "I was a little worried the guys would be a little distracted with what's coming up this weekend."

Instead, Alex Oliver put the Trojans up 1-0 in the first period on a goal set up by Cam Givens and Joe Videki.

In the second period, John Peters struck off Oliver and Derek Schrank assists and Parker Hebden scored, set up by Reilly deTar and Cooper Marshall.

Marshall scored his second of the game off a third-period Schrank assist.

Central faces Division 2 No. 1-ranked Livonia Stevenson on Friday in this weekend's North-South Showcase hosted by the Bay Reps at Centre ICE. The No. 11 Trojans play Division 1 No. 12-ranked Macomb Dakota on Saturday.

Both goals for Cadillac (7-3-1, 1-2-1 BNC) came from Patrick Briggs.

Darrell Carlisle made 23 saves for Central (7-5-1, 3-1-1 BNC).
