TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West posted its first win of the season, scoring three third-period goals to cap off a comeback against the Bay Reps.
Ryan Fernandez, Nick Schultz and Jake Saxton had third-period scores.
Fernandez started things off in the third with a power-play strike 1:21 into the period off Saxton and Max Jenner assists. Schultz added another goal 3:37 in off a Dan Henderson set up, and Saxton's break-away goal two minutes later put the Titans up 4-1.
"West played a really nice third period," Reps coach Todd Spaulding said.
Nate Wilson scored for the Reps with 6:45 remaining off Zach Hill and Josh Hill assists. Nick Sicinski had put the Reps up 1-0 off a Zach Hill first-period assist for a power-play goal 7:18 into the contest.
Saxton scored with 4:30 left in the second period to knot the game up at 1-1 heading into the third. Jenner and Alec Carruth picked up assists.
West started freshman Brendan Lacharite in goal, and he responded with 26 saves on 28 shots.
"He played pretty well," Titans coach Jeremy Rintala said. "He held us in there when we were scrambling around in the first (period).
"It was nice to get on the winning end of things. A lot of our guys played their best game of the year."
TC West (1-4) travels Friday to Division 3 No. 9-ranked Alpena.
"We're hoping some of this carries over from here," Rintala said.
Jay Jones made 23 saves for the Reps (1-4), who host Division 2 No. 7 Midland Dow on Friday.
