Traverse City: TCAPS cancels classes for Friday, Dec. 21

TRAVERSE CITY — Students in Traverse City Area Public Schools get to jump start their holiday break.

TCAPS has canceled all classes and events for Friday, Dec. 21. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Grand Traverse County effective through 7 p.m. Friday. TCAPS' Chief Financial Officer Paul Soma said the decision was based on travel warnings given predictions for nine to more than 13 inches of additional snow, along with blowing and drifting.

Other nearby counties under winter storm warnings include Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee and Wexford.
