Game 5 of Bums' series delayed by rain

AVON, Ohio — The fifth and deciding game of the Frontier League Divisional Series between Traverse City and Lake Erie was delayed by rain on Thursday with the Beach Bums leading 4-2 in the seventh inning.

The Beach Bums took the lead with a three-run sixth inning that was helped by a home run from Chase Burch, his fourth of the series. Burch has one of three Traverse City hits, along with Sean Gusrang and Scott Woodward.

Scott Dunn started for Traverse City and went 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, walking two and striking out four. Matt Miller came on in the sixth and had one inning under his belt when the game was called.

The winner of the game advances to the Frontier League Championship Series against Schaumburg, which swept Florence in the other Divisional Series. The Championship Series starts on Saturday in Schaumburg, Ill.
