Dudley, Do right on course at Jr. Championship

HARBOR SPRINGS — Connor Dudley of Fremont, Ohio, shot a 3-under-par 69 for a tournament total 143 and a tie with Henry Do of Canton, who shot a 5-under-par 67 in the second round of the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands.

Jacqueline Setas of East Lansing shot a 1-over-par 73 for a tournament total 147 and the top spot in the girls division.

Do, a high school senior and has a signed letter of intent with the University of North Carolina, birdied six holes during the round to place him in a tie for first. Dudley, a senior who signed a letter of intent with Butler, is playing in his third Coca-Cola Junior Championship. His previous best finish in the event was tied for 15th.

Tied for third with a tournament total 144 are James Piot of Canton, who shot a second round 2-under-par 70, and Kyle Mueller of Watkinsville, Ga., who shot an even-par 72. In a two-way tie for fifth at 145 are Dylan Deogun of Orchard Lake, who shot a second round 2-over-par 74, and Brandon Barrows of Lake Orion, who shot a 1-under-par 71.

Setas birdied Nos. 1, 3, 13, 17 en route to the lead. Setas, a high school junior, has finished in the top-15 twice this year and is playing in the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands for the fifth straight year.

Pader Her of Lansing is tied for second after shooting a 4-over-par 76 for a tournament total 150. Kari Bellville of Granger, Ind., also has a tournament total 150 after shooting a 2-over-par 74.

Final-round tee times will run from 7:30-9:09 a.m. and noon-1:39 p.m. at Boyne Highlands’ Heather Course.
