Fish for free at NMC

TRAVERSE CITY — Young anglers can fish for free this weekend at Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Campus.

Numerous entities including the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Traverse City Rotary Clubs, and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City are sponsoring Kids’ Free Fishing Day on June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Department of Natural Resources officials will be onsite to supervise the release of 600 rainbow trout for the event.

Fishing gear will be provided, as will demonstrations on how to clean and cook fish.
