Leelanau ultra run to support library in Ethiopia

TRAVERSE CITY — Local runners are invited to traverse Leelanau County by night to raise money for a library in Ethiopia.

The Solstice Run takes off at sunset June 20 along a route that stretches from Northport and leads runners into West Grand Traverse Bay by sunset. Participants can run 40 miles, 20 miles or choose a four-person relay of 10 miles each.

Runners are asked to gather pledges for Project Ethiopia, which supports the completion of a library in Hase Gola, Ethiopia. Funds will provide literature and health-related educational materials on topics such as AIDS and typhoid. The Hase Gola Library will also be a meeting space for community issues.

The Solstice Run is organized by On The Ground and Endurance Evolution. To register and donate online, visit
