Drug bust yields heroin, cocaine

KALKASKA — Authorities found heroin, cocaine and marijuana in an early morning drug bust in Kalkaska that led to the arrest of three people on felony drug trafficking charges.

The suspects’ names are being withheld until their arraignment in 87th District Court. Kalkaska County Sheriff Dave Israel said the suspects were two males and one female.

Detective Lt. Daniel King of the Traverse Narcotics Team would not divulge information on the motel where the search warrant was served on Wednesday at about 12:30 a.m.

A news release stated detectives seized heroin, powder cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana from the suspects’ room. Evidence of drug trafficking, scales, packaging and more than $4,000 in cash was also found.

King said two of the suspects were from “out of town” but declined further comment.

“It’s an ongoing investigation and potentially there could be other people charged,” he said.
