ELK RAPIDS — The Elk Rapids Farmer’s Market starts June 7 at Rotary Park adjacent to the Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features Michigan and local products including caramel popcorn, baked goods, gluten free products, natural cleaning products, jams and jellies, natural meats, premium seafood, honey, maple syrup, flowers, herbal products, nuts, ethnic foods, and both organic and non-organic fruits and vegetables.The market runs through October 11.

TRAVERSE CITY — Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery on Old Mission Peninsula received top honors for its wines at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London.
The estate won a gold medal for its 2011 Gewurztraminer and also won two “Best of Class” silver medals and two bronze medals for its 2011 Pinot Noir, 2007 “Dry Ice” ice wine, 2007 Artisan Cabernet Franc and 2007 Artisan Merlot.
The competition is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world, with more than 15,000 wines from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Brys also medaled in the 2013 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, the 2013 Riverside International Wine Competition and the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition.
GLEN ARBOR — Food storage lockers installed last year in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are ready for use again this summer.
The 22 animal-proof food storage lockers help visitors to properly store food and scented items when camping long distances from their vehicles, and prevent wildlife from raiding the items. Individual and shared lockers are available at campgrounds.
Campers also can store food in their cars when camping at the D.H. Day or Platte River campgrounds and can hang their food when camping at the White Pine campground.
TRAVERSE CITY — Tickets for the first annual Taste of Traverse City Festival are on sale now, with advance purchase discounts available for most events for a limited time.
The festival is slated for Sept. 13-15 and features a Downtown Grub Crawl with tasty specialties from restaurants, cafes and culinary merchants; a Taste of Traverse City event featuring culinary, wine, beer and retail pavilions; and a Best of Brunch competition featuring epicurean teams of chefs, suppliers/farms, wineries, beverage companies and coffee shops.
