Prep Sports Roundup: Trojans sweep BNC titles

Traverse City St. Francis’ Damon Sheehy was in on three event wins. He teamed up with Patrick Lewis, Wesley Nelson and Connor Archer to win the 800 relay in 1:34.59. Sheehy also won both the 100 (11.17) and 200 (23.01). Archer won the high jump with a leap of six feet.

Grayling’s Scott Parkinson won the 110 hurdles in 16.53, and Kalkaska’s Zack Cameron took the discus at 140’1”.

The host Rams had event wins from San Hansen on the long jump (19’2”) and the 1,600 relay (3:42.11).

Mancelona boys take Ski Valley title

Mancelona claimed three events — none of which were close — en route to the Ski Valley Conference championship at Mancelona.

Inland Lakes won six events, including three relays.

The Ironmen won with 164 points, followed by Inland Lakes (137.5), Bellaire (89), Forest Area (69.5), Johannesburg-Lewiston (58), Onaway (53), Pellston (38), Gaylord St. Mary (26) and Central Lake (25).

Mancelona’s Dalton Sulz took the shot put with a heave of 39’9.5” to win by over two-and-a-half feet. Kenny Burnette won the pole vault by a foot, clearing 10 feet. Shayne Dingman won the 1,600 (4:48.06) by more than seven seconds.

For Forest Area, Paul Korn won the long jump (18’9”) by almost a foot and Jeremy Richards took the discus (134’8”) by almost 27 feet.

Onaway’s Joe O’Bradovich claimed the high jump title by clearing 5’6”, while teammates Joe Traynham took the 3,200 in 10:36.36.

Inland Lakes won the 3,200 relay with a team of Cody Bonilla, Jacob Drogowski, Jacob Major and Duane Vizina in 9:08.72, the 800 relay with a quartet of Daniel Flower, Bonilla, Nick Howery and Jordyn Smeltzer in 1:36.62 and the 400 with Flowers, Howery, Smeltzer and Pablo De Los Santos in 46.97.

Vizina claimed the 400 (53.33) and 800 (2:10.24). Flowers also won the 100 in 11.84.

Bellaire’s Hunter Rowe took home the 110 hurdles title with a 15.97 time, and Denny Hall won the 200 in 24.03. The Eagles also won the 1,600 relay with Logan Crawford, Troy Clovis, Rowe and Hall in 3:47.8.
