EMPIRE — A Glen Arbor woman told deputies she fell asleep before she ran a stop sign and crashed her vehicle into a row of boulders near an Empire Township home.
The woman was driving north on South Benzonia Trail when she ran a stop sign at the South Glen Lake Road intersection Tuesday about 6:15 p.m. The vehicle drove across a lawn and crashed into a protective rock wall at 8500 S. Glen Lake Road.
The driver, identified as Patricia R. Bulliss, 74, was transported to Munson Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries, according to the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Department.
No one in the home was injured, and the residence was not damaged. Deputies said the protective rock wall was designed to prevent cars from crashing into the home.
A vehicle rolled through the same intersection in December 2012 and crashed into a house next door, deputies said.
