It takes a community to bring the National Cherry Festival to life. This is Art Lambert’s 25th year volunteering for the festival. In the past he has helped with the parades, but in recent years has signed up to work other areas of the festival.
This week he worked at the Great American Picnic at the Hagerty Center, helped set up and tear down the VIP area at the main stage, and also worked at the Welcome Tent to answer questions and help guide guests to festival events.
“I like talking to people,” he said as he pointed to a world map that was loaded with pins to mark where festival-goers traveled from. “The interaction with the people is the most fun part of volunteering at the festival.”
