Intoxicated driver sent to prison

TRAVERSE CITY — A man with multiple drunken driving convictions will spend 18 months to five years in prison for his latest offense.

Charles William Foust, 55, received the sentence Thursday in 13th Circuit Court Judge Thomas Power's courtroom.

Authorities arrested Foust on Dec. 6 in Union Township. Grand Traverse deputies said he was driving a motor home on Supply Road at Bald Eagle Ridge Drive when the vehicle went off the road. Foust tried to drive the motor home back onto the road, but the vehicle toppled over.

Foust pleaded guilty in February to a charge of operating while intoxicated. Three of his five prior drunken driving arrests unfolded in Ionia, Traverse City and Leland, court records show.
