TRAVERSE CITY — A man suspected of overturning a recreational vehicle while driving drunk has five prior drunken driving arrests.
Police said Charles William Foust, 55, was driving a motor home on Supply Road at Bald Eagle Ridge Drive on Dec. 6 in Union Township when his vehicle went off the road. Foust tried to drive the motor home back onto the road, but the vehicle toppled over.
“When asked, ‘What happened?’ he said that he’d been driving too fast around the curve,” a Grand Traverse sheriff’s deputy wrote in police reports. “Defendant admitted driving drunk and blew a 0.23.”
It was not clear if Foust was the owner of the motor home. He wrote in court paperwork that he was homeless. Three of his five prior drunken driving arrests unfolded in Ionia, Traverse City and Leland, court records show.
