Medicare workshop

Kalkaska — Sue Graybill, ceritifed Medicare counselor from the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan, will give a workshop titled "Medicare 101" from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Jan. 31, at the Kalkaska Senior Center, 303 S. Coral St. Anyone who is within six to 12 months of getting Medicare coverage is encouraged to attend.

Artist gives program

Glen Arbor — Nature photographer Aubrieta Hope of DeKalb, Ill., is the final artist in the Glen Arbor Art Association's 2012-2013 group of artists-in-residence.

Hope wanted a winter residency to photograph Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and intends to photograph the landscape in panoramic, wide-angle, and macro images.

Hope will discuss her work at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Jan. 31, at the Glen Arbor Art Association, 3061 S. Lake St. The public is invited.

Topic is financial aid

Petoskey — Parents and students are invited to a free program on financial aid for college at North Central Michigan College.

The program will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Jan. 31, in the NCMC library, 1515 Howard St. For details, call 348-6698.

OTP studio play

Traverse City — "The Little Dog Laughed" opens Friday, Feb. 1, at the Studio Theatre at the Depot, 620 Railroad Place, by the Old Town Playhouse.

The adult comedy will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2; Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 7-9 and Feb. 14-16; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Tickets are $15 each; call 947-2210 or visit

Quiz Bowl

Scottville — The West Shore High School Quiz Bowl will be held in the Center Stage Theater at West Shore Community College.

Competition for class B and C schools will be held Friday, Feb. 1. Class D schools will compete Friday, Feb. 8. Both competitions start at 9 a.m., with championship matches expected to start at about 1:30 p.m.The public is welcome.
