Krejcik wins goalie award

TRAVERSE CITY — David Krejcik won his second straight Goalie of the Month award from the Midwest Junior Hockey League.

After winning October’s Goaltender of the Month, Krejcik picked up right where he left off, going 6-2 with two shutouts in November.

The 19-year-old Czech Republic product blanked Bloomington on Nov. 2 and tallied consecutive shutouts over the Detroit Fighting Irish on Nov. 15-16.

Krejcik leads all MWJHL goalies with a 10-3-0-2 record, four shutouts, a 1.52 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.

Jacob Gillis was nominated for the monthly forward award, as was Kenny Simmons among defensemen.

Hounds add defenseman Schumacher

Traverse City — Defenseman Bobby Schumacher, who started last year with the Hartland Hounds before a concussion shut him down for the season, signed with the Traverse City Hounds this week.

With Hartland in 2012-13, Schumacher racked up four goals and 11 points in 16 games and was among the MWJHL leaders in defensemen scoring prior to his injury.

Schumacher is expected to play against the Soo Firehawks this weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Hounds (14-3-0-2) play two games this weekend against the Soo Firehawks at the Big Bear Ice Arena in Sault Ste. Marie. Game times are Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. with both contests available for viewing at
