Marshall Elroy Morris

HONOR — Marshall Elroy Morris, 87, of Honor, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Paul Oliver Long-Term Care Facility in Frankfort. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Clifford Morris and Amelia (Voight) Morris Woodman.

Marshall was a proud Marine who served his country honorably during World War II. He fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima and earned the Bronze Star Medal.

Marshall was an active member of the Empire United Methodist Church in Empire. He was also very involved in local government and had served on the Board of Review and held the office of Lake Township Clerk.

Marshall worked as an engineer at Illinois Bell Telephone. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching Little League and fishing.

On June 19, 1948, in Illinois, Marshall married Corinne Bauer who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Linda Morris of Hampshire, Ill., and Sandra Insco of Downers Grove, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jamie (Wojtek) Insco-Jaglowski of Lisle, Ill., and Gregory Insco of Downers Grove, Ill.; his niece, Kathy Harber of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; his nephews, Stephen Morris of Brandon, Fla., and Robert Morris of Vero Beach, Fla.; and his sister-in-law, Ruth Morris of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Morris; his brother, Merle Morris; and his nephew, Michael Morris.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Empire United Methodist Church in Empire, with the Rev. Brenda Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Empire United Methodist Church or to Paul Oliver Long-Term Care Facility.
