Prep Sports Roundup: TCSF completes LMC sweep

BOYNE CITY — Traverse City St. Francis completed a sweep of Lake Michigan Conference tennis foes Wednesday.

The Gladiators won a quad hosted by Boyne City at Boyne Mountain with a perfect score of 24 points.

The Glads were first in each of the eight flights. Harbor Springs was second with 15, followed by Boyne (seven) and Elk Rapids (two).

Winners and runners-up in the eight flights were:

No. 1 singles: Sam Holmes (TCSF) def. Sam Dart (HS) 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 2 singles: Gus Danz (TCSF) def. Ben Brushaber (HS) 6-0, 6-4.

No. 3 singles: Jack Krcmarik (TCSF) def. Bennett Langton (HS) 6-1, 7-5.

No. 4 singles: Pat Burke (TCSF) def. Keith Fitzpatrick (HS) 6-0, 6-3.

No. 1 doubles: Blake Bandrowski/Jay Jones (TCSF) def. Adam Cavitt/Ben Arnold (HS) 6-2, 6-0.

No. 2 doubles: Nathan Tafeskey/Brady Ray (TCSF) def. Logan McGeorge/Ben Forbes (BOYNE CITY) 6-1, 6-2.

No. 3 doubles: Victor Casler/Tyler Spigirelli (TCSF) def. Evan Rosinski/Mike Bila (HS) 6-1, 6-1.

No. 4 doubles: Ryan Navin/Jackson Richmond (TCSF) def. Jeremiah Hay/Sam Bila (HS) 6-0, 6-0.

St. Francis returns to action today with a scrimmage against Glen Lake at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton before playing in the Twin Bays Invitational at Traverse City Central on Tuesday and regionals Oct. 10 in Ludington.

GOLF

Glen Lake wins tri meet at Mistwood

Glen Lake won a triangular nine-hole meet by 37 strokes at Mistwood.

The Lakers put up a score of 189, with Manistee at 226 and East Jordan shooting 258.

Glen Lake was led by Nichole Cox (45), Skylar Gleason (47), Nicole Pace (48) and Madison Hill (49).

Manistee’s Fallon Gates was medalists with a 43, while East Jordan’s top scorer was Paige Podskalny at 59.

All three teams play in Division 4 regional action next Wednesday at Manistee National Gold Club.

EQUESTRIAN

TC Central qualifies for state finals

Traverse City Central reined in a Region D, Division A Championship win at Ludington to qualify for the Oct. 10-13 state finals in Midland.

The Trojans 11-rider team rug up 583 points to Big Rapids’ 512, 439 for Greenville and 292 by Mason County Central.

Central won 10 of the 17 individual events, claiming first place in Western Fitting and Showing, Saddle Seat Fitting and Showing, Saddle Seat Pattern, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunt Seat Bareback, Western Equitation, Western Bareback, Western Riding.Reining, Trail and Flag Race.
