TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Area Children’s Garden is looking for volunteers for the 2013 growing season and will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, March 6.
Volunteers help children’s organizations with a planned summer program of growing plants with a focus on nutrition. The program starts June 1 and continues until school starts in September. Help also is needed in the office, and with communication and fund raising.
The volunteer meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. For details, call 929-0916.
Sister City delegates
TRAVERSE CITY — The City of Traverse City is seeking official delegates for the 2013 goodwill mission to visit Shiga, Japan, as part of a statewide Michigan delegation.
The trip will take place Oct. 16-25 and the cost per person is approximately $2,700. Store needs help
TRAVERSE CITY — The Women’s Resource Center is looking for donations to its Thrift Shop.
The shop provides clothing, furniture and household items to domestic and sexual violence victims and others with critical emergency needs. Revenue from the store also supports WRC programs.
Donations of gently used clothing or unwanted household items may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the store, 3030 N. U.S. 31 South. Complimentary pick up is available for larger items. For details call 946-4180.
Library Craft Month
KALKASKA — March is Craft Month at the Kalkaska County Library, 247 S. Cedar St.
The library will offer a variety of crafting classes throughout the month. All classes are free, but some have a fee for materials. For a complete list of classes, dates and times, call 258-9411.
Y Family Night
TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA’s Family Night on Friday, March 1, will be a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the main facility, 3000 Racquet Club Dr. There will be games, a bounce house, Seuss-related activities and crafts, and open gym. Refreshments include birthday cake. For details, call 933-9622
