Authorities ID man found in mobile home

TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities released the identity of a man found dead inside his burned-out Garfield Township trailer.

John David Norberg, 50, was described by neighbors as an "all-around nice guy" and a "hoarder" whose Cherryland Mobile Home Park trailer was swollen with boxes of items collected and never thrown away.

Grand Traverse Metro Fire Assistant Chief Terry Flynn said investigators don't know if Norberg tried to escape the fire, but one potential escape route was blocked by items packed into a door frame.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
