131s baseball to hold fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — The 131s Travel Baseball program will be holding an equipment fundraiser sale Saturday.

The event will be held at the Premier Baseball Training Center, located at 1209 S. Garfield in Traverse City, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Equipment donations can be dropped off Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. All sports equipment and shoes welcome, but no apparel.

TCJGA Junior Golf sign-up set

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Junior Golf Association will be celebrating its 30th year and has sign-up going for the upcoming junior golf lessons, on-course instruction and tournament programs.

Boys and girls ages 5 years and older can sign up online at www.tcjga.com.

Lessons begin near the end of April, after school and evenings, and will continue through the end of June. Tournament play and on-course instruction begins when school is out in June.

Simpson walking on at Hillsdale

ELK RAPIDS — Elk Rapids’ Ryan Simpson will be a preferred walk-on at Hillsdale next fall.

He was recruited as a linebacker.

Simpson will not receive an athletic scholarship his freshman year, but because of his work in the classroom he will receive a $12,000 academic scholarship. Simpson is a 4.0 student who scored a 34 on his ACT.

30th annual Z-Tee Off outing

THOMPSONVILLE — The Zonta Club of Traverse City is hosting its 30th Annual Z-Tee Off Golf Outing on June 19 at Crystal Mountain Resort, on the Mountain Ridge Course.

The cost is $125 per person and includes your golf, cart, lunch, golf clinic, dinner, snacks, gifts and prizes.

Check in time is 10:30 a.m., with a golf clinic at 11 a.m., shotgun start at noon and dinner and prizes at 5 p.m.
