Dinner and music benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Academy secondary bands will host their annual Jazz 'n' Joes dinner and music fundraiser.

The event will be held tonight at the school, 1245 Hammond Road. The Cadet and Concert bands will perform at 5 p.m., followed by the Varsity and Symphonic bands at 6 p.m. in the main gym. The meal will be served from 4:30-7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room and the small gymnasium before and after the performances. Take-outs are available.

Admission is $5 per person. Tickets are available from Grand Traverse Academy junior high or high school band members or at the school office.

Garden club meets

ACME — Grand Traverse Sea Grant Agent Mark Breederland will discuss the status of the bays and the Great Lakes at the next meeting of the Sweetwater Evening Garden Club.

The club will meet at 7 p.m. March 18 at the East Bay Masonic Lodge. The public is welcome. For details or if planning to attend, call Pam Larkin, 938-9611.

Art lecture

TRAVERSE CITY — Artcenter Traverse City continues its "What Is Art, Anyway?" series with a program titled "Street Art & Graffiti."

The program starts at 7 p.m. March 19 at The Box, 425 Boardman Ave. Ron Jolly will facilitate a conversation with local street artist Chase Hunt, tattoo artist Ram Lee and street artist Sam Miller.

Craft workshop

BENZONIA — The Benzonia Public Library will offer a spring-inspired craft workshop on March 22.

The family-friendly workshop will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the library, 891 Michigan Ave. Participants will be able to create spring themed flowers, bugs, bunnies and baskets from recycled and repurposed materials. The workshop is free and all materials will be provided.
