Nightclub keeps TC police busy

TRAVERSE CITY — A succession of rowdy incidents at a Garfield Avenue nightclub kept city police busy.

Traverse City Police Capt. Mike Ayling said officers responded to four different calls — three fights and one drunken driver — linked to the Streeters Center in two hours on Tuesday evening. He said the incidents could lead to a liquor license violation.

“We have set up a meeting with the owners,” he said.

Owner and Manager Douglas Streeter said the three fight incidents did not stem from over-served patrons. He said one fight ended with an injury, but alcohol didn’t play a part and the victim didn’t hold the club responsible.

“This is our first citation in 15 years,” he said. “We’ve never had one before.”

Streeter said he respects the police but opposes the violation.
