Yarn Day at Scrap TC
TRAVERSE CITY — The Bay Area Yarn Bomb Society will host Yarn Day on Saturday, March 8, for anyone who knits or crochets or wants to learn these needle crafts.
The drop-in event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Scrap TC, 821 South Garfield Ave., in the Garfield Centre near Heavenly Ham and the UPS Store. Free knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, coffee and snacks will be available. Participants also are welcome to bring their own projects. Torch area potluck
EASTPORT — All area residents are invited to the Upper Torch Lake Association’s monthly potluck dinner on Monday, March 10.
The event starts with a social hour at 6 p.m. at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building on U.S. 31, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a favorite beverage, table service, and a dish to share along with a list of its ingredients.
TRAVERSE CITY — The Cherryland Garden Club will sponsor a “Beekeeping Basics” program by Suzette Cooley-Sanborn of Island Amber Apiary.
The free program starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St. Topics include how to start and care for a colony, materials required and time commitment needed for success. The public is welcome. Call Gayle Esper, 935-7798, to learn more.
