Christmas exhibit

ELK RAPIDS — An “Island House Victorian Christmas” is the theme for a holiday exhibit at the Elk Rapids Historical Museum, 301 Traverse St.

The exhibit offers a glimpse into a Victorian-era holiday as it might have been celebrated at the Island House, the current Elk Rapids Library, when the Edwin Noble family lived there. Exhibit hours are 1-4 p.m. Friday through Sunday through Jan. 5. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 for adults, $2 for students 17 and younger, and free for children. For details or to arrange a group tour, call Glenn Neumann, 264-6354, or Marjorie Paradis, 264-8405.

Bear Lake lights

BEAR LAKE — “Sparkle in the Park” is under way and continues nightly through New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

More than 50 lighted sites may be viewed from 5-10 p.m. at the lakeside park in downtown Bear Lake, off U.S. 31 across from the village tree. There is no charge to drive through and view the lights, however a donation box is located near Toyland Bear Lake for contributions toward the 2014 display.
