Hospice orientation

TRAVERSE CITY — Hospice of Michigan will hold volunteer orientation in March. Volunteers are needed in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties.

Volunteers are asked to complete a 12-hour training course. Sessions will meet 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, March 3 and 10, at Hospice of Michigan in the Bayview Professional Centre, 10850 E. Fused glass bugs

TRAVERSE CITY — Scrap TC and artist Deb Coburn will offer a fused glass bug workshop.

The workshop will meet from 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 27, at Scrap TC, 821 Garfield Ave., in the Garfield Centre, next to Honey Baked Ham and the UPS Store. Participants will learn fused glass techniques, color layering and decorating. The cost is $6 per bug and payment is by check or cash. No registration is required.

Concert band performs

TRAVERSE CITY — “Marching into Spring” is the theme for Northwestern Michigan College’s Concert Band performance on Friday, Feb. 28.

The band, directed by Pat Brumbaugh, will take the stage at 8 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. Admission is free.

Peepers programs

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Conservation District continues to offer its Peepers program for children ages 3 to 5 with an accompanying adult.

The program meets from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road. Upcoming topics are: “Fishy Friends,” March 4; “Fantastic Spring Flowers,” March 11; and “Ribbit, Ribbit,” March 18. A spring break series titled “Signs of Spring” will be offered March 25 through 27.
