TRAVERSE CITY — “Mystery” is the theme for Northwestern Michigan College Life Academy’s winter/spring lunch and forum series.
The next luncheon program will be from noon-1:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the NMC University Center. Jerry Dobek, NMC astronomy professor and director of the Rogers Observatory, will discuss “Space Buzz-What’s Out There.” He will take an up-to-date look at neighboring planets, extra-solar planets, and the expansion of the universe. He also will share images of Mercury taken from the Messenger Mission and updates on New Horizons, the mission project to Pluto.

Class of ‘57 lunch
TRAVERSE CITY — All class alumni are invited to join the Traverse City Central High School class of 1957 for lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Traverse City Elks Club, 625 Bay St. Lunch orders will be taken at 11:30 a.m.
EAST JORDAN — The Martha Wagbo Farm & Education Center will offer a presentation on wild harvesting native teas.
The program starts at 1 p.m. Feb. 22, at the education center, 5745 N. M-66. Participants will learn to identify and harvest various evergreens for brewing winter teas, take a snowshoe hike, sip gentle infusions and make a tea garland for brewing. They should bring their own snowshoes.

CENTRAL LAKE — The Central Lake Chamber of Commerce invites the community to its first Chilly Fest and Ice Fishing Tournament on March 1.
Fishing tournament registration is from 7-8 a.m. at the Thurston Park Pavillion. The tournament starts at 8 a.m. on Intermediate Lake and closes at 3 p.m. Snowbuilding, sledding, family winter games and music will be offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Thurston Park. Ice fishing tournament winners will be announced at 3:15 p.m.

‘Romancing the Riesling’
TRAVERSE CITY — The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula will host a “Romancing the Riesling” wine trail event on Saturday.
From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., participating wineries will showcase a Riesling paired with a food offering. Some wineries also will offer Riesling-themed winery tours and other Riesling-themed treats.
