The Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area hired Caroline Kennedy as its new executive officer, replacing Kathy Maisonville Douglass who retired May 30. Kennedy is the former manager of field operations for the Michigan Municipal League in Gladstone.


Doug Luciani, president and chief executive officer of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, was reappointed to the Grow Michigan board of directors. The Grow Michigan board provided more than $17 million in loans to small Michigan businesses since it started 18 months ago. Luciani was first appointed to the board in September 2012.


Area businesses received Best Of awards from Michigan Meetings and Events magazine’s Readers’ Choice awards. Ecco Event Space, Short’s Brewing Company, Celtic Transport Logistics, Shanty Creek Resorts, Boyne Resorts, Chateau Chantal Winery & Inn and Traverse City Tourism were awarded.

Margaret Morse, director of sales and marketing at the Park Place Hotel, received the Lifetime Achievement award. Allison Beers, owner and founder of Events North, received the Best Special Events Planner award.


Ashlea Walter joined Traverse City State Bank as its marketing manager and will manage the bank’s strategic marketing and communications plan.

Mindy Jetter joined the bank as its vice president and controller.


Owners of Comfort Keepers of Northern Lower Michigan, Russ and Leslie Knopp, received the Operational Excellence award from CK Franchising, Inc.

The award goes to Comfort Keepers offices that deliver high quality service.
