Nominations for Business of Year

KALKASKA — The tradition of the Kalkaska business community coming together to honor a local resident dates back more than 40 years, and continues in 2014 with the opening of nominations for Kalkaska Citizen and Business of the Year.

The Business and Citizen of the Year awards will be presented at the annual luncheon of the Kalkaska Chamber of Commerce scheduled for April 23 in Kalkaska. Nominations may be submitted to

ELK RAPIDS — The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce next “Business after Hours” will be hosted by the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall Association on March 20 from 5-7 p.m. at 401 River St.

Health lecture focuses on children

TRAVERSE CITY — Learn about childhood health at a discussion called “Keeping Children Healthy,” part of the Your Health Lecture Series.

B. Keith English, a professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, will lead the discussion on preventing and treating common childhood ailments.

The lecture will be held March 18 at 9 a.m. at the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College.
