The Traverse City Blues Rugby team came up short during a second-half rally in a 37-28 loss to the Toledo Celtics on Saturday.
The Blues (2-3) cut the margin on an Eric Pfropper score and Jimmy Turnbull conversion, and were driving for a score late in the second half when time ran out. Tom Bisbee also had a second-half score for Traverse City, with Turnbull making the conversion, for a Traverse City team that led 14-10 at the half.
Turnbull and Donald Welz had Traverse City’s first-half scores that put the Blues in the lead. Turnbull had both conversions.
The Blues host the Grand Rapids Gazelles on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center.
