SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Traverse City Beach Bums fell another game in the standings, dropping a 9-4 decision to Schaumburg as Scott Dunn took his first loss of the season.
Lake Erie’s 2-1 win over the Frontier Greys put the Beach Bums two games out of first place.
Dunn was hit hard, giving up more than four runs for the first time this season. He surrendered eight hits, five runs and no walks with three strikeouts.
Vladimir Camasho made his Traverse City debut and walked two of three batters he faced before departing. Jacob Clem gave up three runs in 1.2 innings of relief.
Carlo Testa extended his hitting streak to five with two singles and a double. He has 11 hits in that span.
Sean Gusrang belted a solo home run in the second inning, his sixth of the year.
Marcus Nidiffer led off the fifth with a walk, advanced on an Andrew Heck single and scored on a wild pitch.
Gusrang and Nidiffer added RBI singles in the eighth.
The Boomers’ Steve McQuail was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Seth Webster (4-1) earned the win for Schaumburg.
Dunn falls to 14-1.
