CVB offers package

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering a special Winter/Spring "Traverse City Escape" package good from Jan. 4 until May 16.

The package that combines special rates at more than 17 participating hotels and resorts with discounts on winter recreation, shopping, dining and entertainment.

Auto show tickets

DETROIT — Tickets for the North American International Auto Show 2013 (NAIAS) Charity Preview are now on sale.

The event will be held at Detroit's Cobo Center on Friday, Jan. 18, and raises millions for local children's charities.

Tickets are $300, $290 of which is tax deductible.

One Tough Mudder

BROOKLYN — Michigan International Speedway has been chosen as the state's only host venue for Tough Mudder.

The hard-core, 12-mile obstacle course was designed by British Special Forces to test strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. The Tough Mudder event will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30. To register for Tough Mudder Michigan, please visit http://bit.ly/Q7l4MH.

Anchorage brewery

ANCHORAGE — A brewery from outside Fairbanks has opened up a retail outlet in Anchorage's largest airport.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport says passengers catching flights will be able to carry on six-packs or half-gallon growlers of microbrew made by Silver Gulch brewery in Fox. The outlet is inside the secure passenger area at the entrance to the C concourse and also includes a restaurant.

New Amtrak service

NORFOLK, Va. — Amtrak has begun offering service between Norfolk and Washington, D.C., providing an alternative route for tourists, business travelers and military officials who usually drive on the state's congested highways between the two cities.
