Suttons Bay gets tie, two losses at Ludington

LUDINGTON — In its first time outside this spring, the Suttons Bay girls soccer team played in the Ludington Invitational, posting a tie and two losses.

The Norsemen lost to the host Orioles 3-0 and Manistee 3-2, and tied Mason County Eastern 1-1.

Suttons Bay played the game short-handed with only 11 players available.

The highlight of the day for the Norsemen may have been in the tie with Mason County Eastern. Suttons Bay fell behind 1-0 with just under a minute to play in the game, but managed to force the draw on a Rachel Pasche goal, assisted by Dani Merwin, with 30 seconds remaining.

Against Manistee, Suttons Bay battled back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits, tying the game both times. A Manistee penalty kick with five minute left was the difference. Suttons Bay got its goals from Merwin and Sethe Zachman. Assists were credited to Emily Beyer and Mariah Belluomii.

Irene Prado was in net for the Norsemen. Prado played well in her first outing since suffering a knee injury last year. She came up with big saves, including a penalty kick attempt against Ludington.

Suttons Bay is scheduled to play at Kingsley on Wednesday.
