Mel Larimer series presents 'Amahl and Night Visitors'

The Mel Larimer Concert Series will feature “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” a 45-minute opera, written with children in mind.

“It’s a heart-warming presentation of the Christmas story told through the eyes of the child,” said First Congregational Church Sanctuary Choir Director Russ Larimer.

The popular opera, first performed in 1951, tells the story of the night the three kings stop for shelter at the home of a crippled boy, Amahl, and his widowed mother, said the Rev. Gary Hogue.

The production will be performed by a professional orchestra, First Congregational Church choir members, and community members.

It will be performed at First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, Dec. 22, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
