Toothbrush drive

TRAVERSE CITY — The fifth annual Save A Smile toothbrush donation drive starts today, Sept. 1, and continues through September.

The drive benefits patients and families served by the Traverse Health Clinic. Donations of child and adult toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss will be accepted at all Tom’s Food Market locations, all Northwestern Bank locations in the Traverse City area, at Traverse Dental Associates and at the Traverse Health Clinic.

Monetary gifts also are appreciated and will help provide oral hygiene services. They may be made at www.traversehealthclinic.org, or checks may be mailed to Traverse Health Clinic, 3155 Logan Valley Rd., Traverse City, MI 49684. Donors should include “Dental” on the memo line.

Local bridge walk

TRAVERSE CITY — A Labor Day bridge walk will be held Monday, Sept. 2, in Traverse City. It is sponsored by Traverse City Walks, LLC.

Walkers will leave at 8 a.m. from EuroStop Cafe at the corner of East Front and Park streets, to walk four of Traverse City’s bridges. The family-friendly walk is about three miles in distance. There is no registration necessary and the walk is free.

Fun at Music House

ACME — The Music House Museum will host a Family Day on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Activities from noon to 4 p.m. include guest musicians, special showings of silent films with popcorn and beverages, outdoor games if weather permits and family-friendly tours. Special admission rates are $15 for families, $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 5 and younger.

Civil War program

FRANKFORT — The Benzonia Area Historical Museum will present “Letters from Home,” a dramatic reading of letters exchanged between a husband and wife during the Civil War, on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The program will start at 2 p.m. at the Stonewall Inn, 428 Leelanau Ave. Dave Jackson’s Civil War collection also will be on display. Seating is limited and reservations are requested; call 882-5539. For details, visit http://www.benziemuseum.org.
