Prep Sports Roundup: Trojan runners sweep Scottie Classic

ALMA — Traverse City Central swept Division 1 in the Scottie Classic on Saturday.

The girls track team finished with 689 points, the boys 673. The West boys had 603.5 and the girls 520.

The meet was divided into four divisions. Schools used the meet to gain additional qualifiers for next weekend’s regionals.

The Central girls had four first-place finishers in Division 1. Graceanne Tarsa won the pole vault (9-1); Brianna Worthington the 300 hurdles (50.97); Joy Reist the 800 (2:24.24); and Reist, McKenna Beers, Erin Lipp and Lauren Marsh the 1600 relay (a season-best 4:11.58).

Earning seconds: Courtney Cadotte in the 100 (12.97) and 200 (26.73); Marsh in the 800 (2:24.46); Worthington in the pole vault (7-11); and Marsh, Shaylee McAuliffe, Grace Failor and Reist in the 3200 relay (10:05.79).

Thirds went to Jordan Mattarella in the 800 (2:25.96); Emmalyne Tarsa in the 1600 (5:26.01); Worthington in the 100 hurdles (17.01); Beers in the long jump (15-11); and Beers, Cadotte, Savannah Champion and Bailey Versluis in the 400 relay (52.87).

For West, Olivia Bishop won the 100 hurdles (15.96) and high jump (5-0) and placed second in the long jump (16-2). Adding seconds: Sara Sievers in the 300 hurdles (52.16), Paris Wagner in the discus (108-9) and Jessica Gockley in the 1600 (5:22.49.

In Division III, Benzie was led by Alikay Hamilton, who won the 100 (12.67) and took second in the 200 (26.49) and 400 (1:02.55). Manon Lutzke claimed the shot put (34-10.25). Bryce Cutler finished second in the 800 (2:25.46) and third in the 1600 (5:26.04). Olivia Brian, Morgan Burch, Cutler and Hamilton finished second in the 1600 relay (4:28.03). Brian, Burch, Stephanie Schaub and Cutler came in third in the 3200 relay (10:12.53).

In Division 4, Holly Bullough and Grace Meachum had big days for St. Francis, which took second overall. Bullough won the 400 (59.39) and 1600 (4:59.49) and was second in the 200 (27.15). Meachum won the 100 (13.23) and long jump (16-1.75) and was third in the 200 (27.42). Erin McDonnell placed second in the 800 (2:25.97). Grace Jones, Emily Weitzel, Bullough and McDonnell came in second in the 1600 relay (4:19.88). Megan Seida, Sophie Mackey, Isabelle Reamer and Weitzel placed third in the 400 relay (56.76).
