Prep Sports Roundup: West advances to semifinals

The Stags came out of pool play second overall at the 15-team tournament. They started with a split against Gaylord, 21-25, 25-14, then won three straight matches against East Jordan, 25-14, 25-9, Pellston, 25-13, 25-21, and Rudyard, 25-11, 25-17.

Leah Hall was named Team MVP for Kingsley (43-7-7) with 20 kills, 18 blocks, 113 assists and 51-for-52 on serves. Other leaders were: Lilly Travis (34 kills, 55 digs, 59-for-61 serving, 7 aces); Autumn Goggin (31 kills, 60 digs, 72-for-74 serving); Alysia Folkersma (32 kills, 18 blocks, 12 digs, 8 aces); Kelsey Graham (7 kills, 10 blocks); and Lindsey Weber and Arianna Hart (outstanding floor defense).

The Stags are at the Reed City Quad on Monday.

TC Central reaches semifinals at Fenton Invite

Traverse City Central took first in pool play at the Fenton Invitational, but lost in semifinal action to Fenton, 16-25, 13-25.

The Trojans won their pool after splitting with Linden (25-17, 23-25) and beating Utica (25-15, 25-11) and Rochester Adams (25-22, 25-18).

Leading the Trojans (27-13-2) on the day were: Devin Dotterrer (64 assists, 5 aces); Callie Bartkowiak (27 kills, 3 aces); Carissa Bartkowiak (18 kills, 7 blocks); Jessie Kuchner (20 kills, 12 digs); Sierra Fraser (8 kills, 3 blocks); and Cara Ferguson (21 digs, 3 aces).

The Trojans open district play on Nov. 4 against Gaylord at Gaylord.
