TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Hounds improved to 5-0 in the Midwest Junior Hockey League Saturday night with a 4-2 win over the Alpena Street Cats at Centre ICE.
Austin Flores, Tyler Thirlby, Garrison Sanipass and Patrick Rogowski scored for the Hounds. Sanipass snapped a 2-2 tie 14 minutes into the second period with a power play goal. Thirlby assisted. Rogowski iced it with a short-handed empty net goal with 17 seconds left. Cam Fisher drew the assist.
Traverse City had to overcome five penalties in the third period. Altogether, Traverse City had 10 infractions on the night for 20 minutes. Alpena had four penalties for eight minutes.
Sergey Deev and Andrei Yanovich tallied for Alpena, now 3-2.
The Hounds outshot the Street Cats 36-26. David Krejcik was in goal for Traverse City. He was named the game’s No. 1 star.
Traverse City hosts the Michigan Ice Dogs next Friday.
