---- — - Robert Reich, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, made several jokes to an audience Saturday about his small stature. The audience broke out in laughter when Reich described a recent confrontation with truck drivers while he was in his Mini Cooper. The truckers asked how anybody could fit in the tiny car, but were silenced when he stepped out and they realized how short he is, Reich said.
- After rain put a halt to the annual Film Festival volunteers vs. filmmakers softball game Friday, the teams decided to go head-to-head in a match of kickball Saturday morning. The filmmakers were the victors in the match.
- “You’ve got to turn around and go back that direction,” said a volunteer to a car of young women asking for directions along Front Street in front of the State Theatre on Saturday morning. Front street is a one-way street at that location.
- “The week of the Traverse City Film Festival is one of my favorite of the year,” said Ashlea Walter via Facebook. “The people, the energy all over town, the wonderful films, the venues, the amazingly fun and thoughtfully run Kids Fest, everything. My only complaint: it always goes by too quickly. Second complaint: never can see enough movies!”
