Programs on peace

Traverse City — Unity of Traverse City is waiting to welcome its new minister, the Rev. Eileen Stulak, and is using Sundays in the meantime to explore world peace by inviting people of different faiths to offer their perspectives.

The series is under way and will continue at 10:30 a.m. Sundays through March 10 at Unity Church, 3600 Five Mile Road. The speaker at today's service, Feb. 10, is Kim Morse, a Unity member. She will talk about Unity's vision of world peace.

Explore GS camp

Traverse City — The community is invited to explore the former Timbers Girl Scout Camp property with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.

Long Lake-Timbers Winter Exploration Day starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the former camp. Activities include cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding.

Bank hosts art show

Frankfort — A multi-media exhibit by artist Karen Keranen opens Thursday, Feb. 14, at West Michigan Bank & Trust, 501 Main St.

An artist reception will be hosted at 4-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. Keranen's art may be viewed during regular banking hours through June 5. For details, call 352-9655.

Dessert tasting

Ellsworth — Ellsworth's best bakers are pulling out all the stops for the fifth annual Dessert Tasting and Raffle.

The event will be hosted from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Banks Township Hall. Donations will be accepted for the dessert tasting. Raffle tickets for a chance to win a dessert are $2 each or three for $5.
