Love Songs & Jazz

TRAVERSE CITY — Chateau Chantal will host an afternoon of jazz featuring the Jeff Haas Trio.

Railroad history

TRAVERSE CITY — The Railroad Historical Society of Northwest Michigan will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. Member Steve Terry will give a program on the Milwaukee Electric through the Cascades. The public is welcome.

Dine out for BACN

BENZIE COUNTY — Area residents can enjoy dinner out and help Benzie Area Christian Neighbors, Benzie County’s largest food and clothing pantry.

Stormcloud Brewing Co. on Main Street in Frankfort and the Hungry Tummy in downtown Beulah will donate a portion of the total from each receipt to BACN on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

LWVLC hosts panel

SUTTONS BAY — The League of Women Voters Leelanau County will sponsor a panel discussion on elder abuse, school bullying and domestic violence and the area’s resources and responses to these issues.

Panelists include Nancy Turner, long-term care ombudsman in northwest Michigan; Elizabeth Pine, an Olweus Bullying Prevention Program trainer for Conflict Resolution Services; and Cathy Anthofer, a client advocate at the Women’s Resource Center.

IAA ‘Collage’

INTERLOCHEN — Interlochen Arts Academy will spotlight students from around the world in its annual “Collage” performance.

The sampler of IAA student performances starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 3-4, in Corson Auditorium. Tickets are $26 for adults, $23 for senior citizens and $10 for students. They are available at, or by calling (800) 681-5920 or 276-7800.

LAKE ANN — The Almira Historical Society invites the community to its “Family Fun and Music at the Museum” event. The free celebration will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Almira Museum.
