John Joseph Jagosz

CEDAR — John Joseph Jagosz, 78, of Cedar, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at his home with his loving wife at his side.

John was born on July 19, 1934, in Detroit, to the late Walter and Mary (Zbrudzewski) Jagosz. He married Kathryn Ann Baetz on Sept. 6, 1980, also in Detroit.

John honorably served our country in the United States Army in the Third Armor Division.

After his time in service he went to work for General Motors and worked as a designer and checker. After retirement from GM he went to work for Hawtal Whiting.

John enjoyed tending to his yard, fishing, being with "the boys" and "spending time with his dear grandchildren. He has a vast collection of beautiful lighthouses, castles and model cars. Music also brought joy to John.

John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Surviving John are his wife, Kathy; children, Madonna (David) Swanson, John Michael Jagosz and Michelle (Guy) Boccia; grandchildren, Shawn, Michael, Erik, Alec, Patrick and Jade; siblings, Lottie "Laura" (John) Konkala and Gerald (Doris) Jagosz; and many other loving family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Walter and Richard.

John will always be remembered by those who loved him for his clever wit and his readiness to joke and laugh. His sense of humor and fondness for affectionate teasing often brought laughter to his beloved family and cherished friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary recitation at 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 11 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior. Fr. Michael Janowski will preside. Interment will take place in the spring at Rose Hill Cemetery.
