TRAVERSE CITY — Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is leading a celebration in Heaven.
Dorothy went home on Oct. 29, 2012, at the age of 98. Born July 17, 1914, in Whiting, Ind., she was the daughter of John and Gladys Schaub.
Dorothy retired in 1976 as an executive secretary with the State of Michigan, and she remained active with her state retiree group.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing.
Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several bridge groups. She was also an avid reader.
Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne (Donald) Pahl; four grandchildren, Shelley (Rich) Patt, Tracy (Colin) Schworm, Cliff (Jennifer) Walkington and Kevin (Tressa) Walkington; eight great-grandchildren, Jake Patt, Haley and Erin Schworm, McKenzie, Chase, Zachary, Derek and Audrey Walkington; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1967; daughter, Beverly Walkington in 2008; parents; two sisters, Mary Jane Patterson and Marjorie Rhodes; and two brothers, John and Bill Schaub.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. A memorial funeral liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour, Lansing, with Fr. Rob Deland presiding. A rite of committal will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
