Munch leads by 2 at TC Amateur

TRAVERSE CITY — Winton Munch shot a low round of 75 to lead the Traverse City Amateur at the Traverse City Country Club.

Much leads Brandon Pheophilus by two strokes, with Bruce Anderson, Brain Cram and defending champ Ed Price each carding 79s.

All of the top five hail from Traverse City.

TC's Gray Thaxton leads the senior division with an 80, four shots ahead of Kalkaska's Jim Wolcott.

Today's final round starts at 1 p.m. at the Leenanau Club.

TC Central throwers sweep State Games of Michigan

EAST KENTWOOD — Traverse City Central's Johnny Piatek, Adam Foster and Austin Plamondon dominated the throwing events at the 2013 Meijer State Games of Michigan held at East Kentwood High School on Saturday.

Piatek won both the shot put (44'7") and javelin (91'1"), while Foster took the discus (139'5"). Plamondon was secodn in both the shot and discus. Foster was third in shot put and Piatek third in discus.
