Music at Sleder’s

TRAVERSE CITY — Driftwood will make an appearance today, April 6, at Sleder’s Family Tavern, 717 Randolph St.

The concert, part of the “On the Porch” music series, starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at Sleder’s, Oryana Natural Foods Market, Brilliant Books and Zamar Guitar; $20 at the door. Tickets and details also are available by calling the tavern, 947-9213.

Garden volunteers

TRAVERSE CITY — Children’s Garden volunteers will meet Wednesday, April 9. Potential volunteers are welcome.

Anyone interested in volunteering to teach or help maintain the gardens is invited to the 7 p.m. volunteer meeting at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. For details, call 929-0916.

 

Garden club program

TRAVERSE CITY — The Cherryland Garden Club’s Tuesday, April 8, meeting will feature guest speaker Leslie Suitor, owner of Rent-A-Chicken.

Suitor will talk about how to get started keeping backyard chickens at the 7 p.m. meeting at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St. Reservations are required; call Gayle Esper, 228-6720.

Talk About Art

GLEN ARBOR — The next Talk About Art program will focus on the words and images of Leelanau County photographer Ken Scott.

Scott’s work is seen weekly in the Leelanau Enterprise. He also has published five collections of images depicting Leelanau County and other northern Michigan places.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St. Admission is free and the public is welcome. For details, call 334-6112.

EP release tour

KINGSLEY — Allthemore will bring their “Wake Up Call” EP release tour to The Rock of Kingsley.

The group will perform with special guests Artisan Ocean and Holly August on Saturday, April 12, at The Rock, 115 E. Blair St. Jerad Clark is the guest speaker and a dance party will follow the concert. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.
